This paper snowman craft pattern is great for toddlers and preschoolers. They'll love threading the ribbon through the slots to make the paper snowman's nose and buttons. From about age 5, kids will be able to cut the pieces out themselves, though you'll need to cut the slots.
When it's finished, you can hang your snowman up as a winter decoration or use it to decorate the Christmas tree. It would also make a lovely gift.
To Make the Paper Snowman, You'll Need
A sheet of white construction paper or thin card
Scissors
A piece of red ribbon 1.5cm (about 1/2 inch) wide, and 40cm (15 inches) long
Glue

Print the snowman pattern onto construction paper or thin card.
Cut out the pieces carefully. Your child may do this alone, or may need help. You should cut out the slots.
Cut one end of the ribbon diagonally to make a point. This makes it easier for kids to thread through the slots.
Show your child how to thread the ribbon in and out. Start by threading it through the top slot from the back to the front.
Once the ribbon has been threaded through all the slots, kids can glue the paper snowman's eyes, mouth and hat into place.
Fold the ribbon over at the top and glue it to make a loop to hang your snowman by.
Have fun!
Using a pre-printed pattern can be a step towards being more creative. Once you've made this snowman, design your own character with slots to thread a ribbon through. How about Santa Claus, a pirate, or a clown? Cut it out of coloured card and put it together in the same way as this pattern.
You could make a butterfly with several colored ribbons threaded through it. Think of your own ideas.
